| Mr G Chana FRCS has worked
as an Orthopaedic Consultant in the city of Birmingham UK, for the past
17 years and is currently based at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in
Birmingham.
Mr Chana has a special interest in minimally invasive hip
replacement and minimally invasive resurfacing
surgery. He has carried out 2,500 total hip replacements and over 1,500 hip resurfacings using
the conventional approach.
He has successfully operated on patients from Africa, Asian, North America,
Europe and India, as well as around the UK, from London, Ireland, Wales
and Scotland.
Over the past 5 years, Mr Chana has also carried out over 350 hip resurfacing
operations for young, active patients with arthritic hip conditions using the minimally invasive approach.
Mr G Chana trained in Birmingham University's Medical School and qualified
in 1975. Pre-fellowship training was undertaken in Leeds, before returning
to Birmingham to train as orthopaedic surgeon in the Birmingham orthopaedic
training programme. In 1990 Mr G Chana became Consultant Orthopaedic
surgeon.
After 8 years as a Consultant in the City Hospital Trust, Birmingham,
Mr G Chana moved on to Royal Orthopaedic and Good Hope Hospitals in
Birmingham. From August 2002 he has been working as a Consultant at
the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham.
