| What
is the cost of surgery and hospital stay?
The price will be based on the type of surgery you are going to be offered
after the assessment. But for rough estimates the following bands are
followed:
Minimally invasive hip replacement (between 5 and 7 days stay in the
hospital)
£7250 to £8700 depending on the prosthesis used.
Minimally invasive hip resurfacing (between 5 and 7 days stay in the
hospital)
£9550
(The final figure will be based on the assessment carried out by Mr
G Chana)
How many days do I need to stay in the hospital?
Recovery times
If you are a Non-Birmingham resident it is essential to stay at least
5 days in the hospital and the next 5 days in the neighbouring Nursing
home to get fully mobilized before you go home.
If you are a resident of Birmingham, and if you are ready to go, you
will spend 3 to 4 days before you can go home and be looked after by
Home care team, which needs to be paid for.
It will be 6 weeks before you are able to fly home.
Driving is possible 4-6 weeks after the operation.
